Question: Two companies own valuable assets. One owns a famous sports team. The other owns the stadium it plays in. Which would you rather invest in?

Answer: No single correct answer. A sports team benefits from scarce league membership, broadcasting rights and loyal supporters. A stadium can earn revenue from concerts, corporate events and other activities even when the home team isn’t playing. But both face different costs, risks and opportunities. The interesting lesson is that owning the event and owning the venue are two very different investment propositions.
