Instead of every EUV scanner needing its own tin-droplet light source, one powerful FEL could potentially supply many scanners at once. As Sam explains, xLight believes a single FEL could feed as many as 20 ASML scanners while delivering four times the power.
That matters because more light means greater wafer throughput – and ultimately more chips from the same factory. In other words, the real prize may not be the ring itself, but the enormous increase in productivity it could unlock.
